Philippine folklore-inspired animation returns to the international festival following Wetsitales’ 2022 recognition Five Wetsitales animated films have been selected for the XXIX International Festival of Animation Films “Animaevka-2026,” marking another milestone for the project’s mission to bring stories rooted in Philippine folklore to audiences around the world. The festival will take place in Mogilev, Belarus, from September 30 to October 2, 2026. Organized by the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, Animaevka celebrates animation, children’s creativity, and international cultural exchange. The 2026 edition drew 1,962 film submissions from 99 countries. Wetsipon Workshop announces “ Basyang ,” an original song under its Wetsitunes O R egional banner. Released on May 8, 2026, the 2-minute, 20-second Children’s Music single builds on the workshop’s mission of making music inspired by Philippine folk tunes and creating engaging cultural and educational experiences for young listeners. A New Sound for a Beloved Storytelling Tradition   “ Basyang ” serves as theme music for contemporary storytelling inspired by Lola Basyang. The project links Wetsipon Workshop’s folk-tune archiving and original-music practice with a familiar figure in Philippine children’s literature. Writer and playwright Severino Reyes used “Lola Basyang ” as a pen name for stories published in Liwayway ; those stories later reached audiences through books, comics, television, film, and the performing arts.   Wetsipon , extending this storytelling work through an animated folk-tale anthology.   Wetsitales Celebrates 4th Gawad Alternatibo Selection with Wetsitales : Agyu from Ayuman (Omnibus Version)   Wetsipon Workshop proudly celebrates another milestone as Wetsitales: Agyu from Ayuman (Omnibus Version) has been selected for Gawad Alternatibo, marking the fourth time Jade Dandan Evangelista’s Wetsitales series has been presented in the festival’s programming.   Since 2022, Wetsitales has brought Philippine oral traditions, folktales, and regional stories to screen through short animated films created by the daughter-mother team of Jade and Nina Dandan Evangelista. W hen I was young,  I was lucky to have access to music in different forms and styles.  It was so accessible we actually took it for granted and for a time,  wasted the opportunity.   My mother was a piano teacher,  the best basic piano teacher in our small town.  She knows how to make a person play a musical instrument with information that sticks as a core memory.  Not just the easy playing style that would make you copy playing a piece and when the session ends you will never play the instrument again.  She is good in theory and possibly child psychology or people reading she can customize a curriculum so that you can eventually play the instrument,  find your own time to go back again, and still could play and progress even after the session.    However,  she was my mother and I never was into making music as a passion so I didn't like my Saturday playtime and TV time stopped by piano practice and lessons during my you...
