Wetsipon Workshop Celebrates Jade’s Participation in the 2026 National Book Week Youth amBASAdor Program
A proud milestone in a young storyteller’s journey to champion reading, creativity, and responsible information sharing
Wetsipon Workshop proudly celebrates Jade’s selection as a participant in the 2026 National Book Week Youth amBASAdor program, a joint leadership and literacy initiative involving the National Library of the Philippines and partner organizations. The program equips young writers and artists to champion reading, information literacy, and digital transparency-bringing creative expression together with a commitment to informed, responsible storytelling.
For Wetsipon Workshop, this selection is a meaningful milestone worth celebrating: an opportunity for Jade to deepen her craft, learn alongside fellow young creatives, and explore how stories and art can encourage others to read, ask questions, and seek reliable information. The Workshop is immensely proud to support this next chapter in Jade’s creative journey.
Part of the 92nd National Book Week celebration, the 2026 program is organized by the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI), the National Book Week Committee, the Freedom of Information-Program Management Office (FOI-PMO) under the Presidential Communications Office, Komiket, and the National Library of the Philippines. Its two-day camp was held on October 14-15, 2026, at the fourth-floor Children’s Library Section of the National Library of the Philippines in Manila.
The program brings together 30 selected student representatives across two tracks, the tracks for storytellers and writers, serves campus journalists, student leaders, and creative writers through thematic plotting and scriptwriting. The track for illustrators and artists, supports sketch hobbyists, cartoonists, and other visual creatives through visual design and character layout.
Core training combines creative storytelling led by the NLP Kuwentistas; information literacy and Freedom of Information sessions covering fact-checking and research tools through the FOI Portal; the Hagod brush-based drawing workshop led by comic book artist Dr. Randy Valiente; and digital content creation focused on educational, factual, and inspiring media. Together, these modules connect imagination with research, artistic practice, and responsible communication.
Beyond the training, Jade was happy to meet new friends and mentors, making the experience even more special. The two days were capped off with wonderful memories and a very cute FOI stuffed toy named Tala—a delightful keepsake of an experience filled with learning and new connections.
Participants who complete the camp are officially named National Book Week Youth amBASAdors and FOI Youth Ambassadors. Jade’s selection marks an opportunity to grow within this initiative and contribute to its mission of encouraging reading and thoughtful engagement with information.
Through Wetsipon Workshop’s Wetsitales animated shorts, Jade helps bring Philippine folk tales to new audiences through research and creative storytelling. The program’s emphasis on literacy, art, and reliable information offers a meaningful connection to that work: sharing stories that invite curiosity and keep folk culture accessible to new generations.
Wetsipon Workshop extends its gratitude to the organizers, mentors, and partner institutions for creating opportunities for young voices to learn and lead. Congratulations, Jade! We are so proud of you and excited for the stories you will continue to share.
