Wetsipon Workshop : Homeschool Journeys

W etsipon's development happened this way,  she read at around 2, could keyboard type an actual word with corresponding emoji pre-playschool (around 3,) and then struggled for her to write on pen and paper at playschool.  We had to push her for pencil skills as we did not want her to do another playschool and be accepted in Kinder. Glad that I had a sister who is into child dev and asked us one question.  Is anybody at home writing on paper?  Being with 2 adults,  our household needed a lifestyle change,  we made an effort to forget Onenote, and Evernote and made an extra effort to write on paper.  I was a phone - tablet - laptop yielding corporate mom.  My hubby also only uses the phone, tablet, and desktop.  Things had to change.  Monkey sees monkey does.   I was lucky to have an office near a paper warehouse where they consider manila paper-sized cuts of  (beautiful)  paper as spoilage I can take home.  My ink-challenged learner started developing pencil skills,  and then starte

 I really made thorough research on this matter.  Even when she was in regular school,  I checked casually on resources that is on the internet.  I notice that the community was filled with generous mothers who offer tips and tricks.    I was interested in the lifestyle and personalities of some homeschool vloggers,  one of which is Janina Vela  (in her makeup phase,) since I do not have anyone I personally know who does homeschool,  she was a peg.  I once encountered a colleague client who mentioned she was, I had a conversation with her about education since I think we both have same-age children and we were embarking on decisions on which school to choose, so that started a spark,  my kid was about 4 y.o. about to start schooling,  (she could already read but was not into using the pencil yet,) being a corporate mother,  this was not an option. W elcome back to my blog.. and welcome back to me.. hehe.  I have been thinking about going back to blogging with the current advocacy much worth my mumblings.   This time I will be sharing our homeschool journey after being a veteran of 4 years completing a milestone and having my daughter recently finish elementary. What started me from homeschooling?  Many things,  but mostly because I realize learning is not a one size fits all.   It is a long story to tell,  it is not just one reason.  It may need to take up a whole blog session.   I saw that my daughter has potential but I can see that regular school needs to maintain a certain speed for most to follow.  The speed seems to be a pace that my daughter gets bored with,  to allow her to be within the speed limit, the school allowed her to slack off and this gets her into situations.   I'

BB : It has been a while since I blogged.  I have gathered a lot of unused content that it is hard to curate and organize it.  I have changed a lot in my voice,  my content, my opinions and focus have updated.  This "blog container" used to be about an infant, ff toddler, ff pre-school and with a batt of an eyelash she is now making content of her own.  Maybe just like mommy,  the topics will be flying all over the place.  It has to settle back to a voice,  this time it will be another voice.  Mommy will be doing the technicals of posting,  maybe a bit of backgrounder chit chats,  but this blog will now be about, BBB,  establishing herself more as Wetsipon.  It's now all from J or all about J.  Ladies and Gentlemen,  this is now Wetsipon Workshop's blog.

August 19 may be a milestone of sorts for J.   Today we have delivered our first batch of merchandise to a legit artisan store that hosts creations of acknowledged artists, crafters and makers.  Hey Kessy with branches in Alabang Town Center and UP Town Center is her debut store.   We am so proud because her works have been getting positive feedbacks from her little Instagram space where we initially wanted to archive her doodles that eventually became projects that are Hey Kessy worthy! After the delivery we were in our usual mall.  Usual shops which includes a local daisho shop.  J actually wanted to go immediately and we didn't know that she had a specific plan in mind.  To read the labels and boxes and practice his newfound skill from doing Duo Lingo and attentively going thru youtube upon youtube of Hiragana or Katakana as well as doing Japanese emoji faces called kaomoji or Lenny faces.. slowly but surely she was just like when she was learning how to read English,  she i

J's 7th year creativity is a mishmash of many characters : Pandas, Larva, Sharks, Sesame Street Monsters.. but one of the stand outs for this year is her original characters from a collection she initially called Dino All!  The Dino All characters are cutified and with anthromorphic features.  Prior to this she was into dinosaurs in the encyclopedia sense where she could highlight and draw the characteristics, differences like a true geek.  And then the magic happened.
